BLACKPINK Smashes Records with Comeback, Leaves TWICE in the Dust Across All Platforms

At 11 AM KST on July 11, K-pop titans BLACKPINK and TWICE made their long-awaited comebacks—BLACKPINK with their digital single “Jump”, and TWICE with the full studio album headlined by “This Is For.”
The release set the stage for one of the most highly anticipated girl group showdowns in recent memory, especially amid a quieter phase in the K-pop scene.

BLACKPINK‘s “Jump” bursts with heavy EDM beats, intense basslines, and post-apocalyptic zombie visuals. It marks the group’s first MV to utilize such extensive CGI, although some viewers commented on a perceived lack of authenticity compared to earlier hits.
Meanwhile, TWICE‘s “This Is For” goes for a mellow pop vibe, balancing studio and outdoor scenes, showing JYP’s renewed effort in pushing its flagship girl group with more deliberate production and promotion.
Within the first seven hours of release, BLACKPINK quickly asserted dominance across major streaming platforms:
– No. 1 on Bugs
– No. 8 on Genie
– No. 12 on Melon
– No. 58 on Flo

In contrast, TWICE only managed No. 23 on Bugs and No. 62 on Genie, failing to enter Melon’s chart. While “This Is For” was met with warm reception, it hasn’t yet restored TWICE’s legendary chart power from their “Cheer Up” or “TT” era. Surprisingly, in the first hour of release, TWICE‘s “This Is For” raked in 1.4 million views, outpacing BLACKPINK‘s “Jump”, which initially gained just 500,000 views—a figure many considered underwhelming for a group of their stature.

However, it was later revealed that “Jump” experienced a view count delay. By 6 PM, the MV had surged to 12 million views and 2.2 million likes, compared to TWICE‘s 4.2 million views and 630,000 likes. “Jump” also made history as the fastest K-pop MV in 2025 to reach 1 million likes—accomplishing the feat in just 1 hour and 1 minute.

Despite an exciting start from TWICE, BLACKPINK is currently leading the comeback war by a wide margin. Their strong performance on streaming platforms, historic YouTube metrics, and the continued resonance of their brand confirm they remain at the top of the girl group hierarchy—a position they’ve held firmly since 2019’s “Kill This Love.” While some fans hold out hope for a TWICE rebound, for now, all signs point to BLACKPINK continuing their global reign with another emphatic comeback.
